Mention St Lucia weather and the image that springs to mind is
probably just like the one above. However while this is your typical St Lucia weather day the weather in St Lucia can be different from t
his sometimes, but it’s never likely to be too cold for you. In fact the weather for St Lucia fluctuates between a high of around 86 degrees centigrade to a low of about 76 degrees centigrade and most days are sun shiny with gentle breezes and stunning blue s
This kind of weather is prevalent from December to May and the rainy season sets in from June till about the end of September. During these months the weather in St Lucia tends to be much wetter with rain falling more often and for longer periods. Despite this it hardly ever rains for the entire day and it’s important to remember that if you lay out in the open shade on a cloudy day sunblock is still recommended as you can still get sun burnt.
This is because we are closer to the equator than the country where you are most likely from and the rays of the sun come to us at a more direct angle than it reaches places that are further from the equator. And with this more direct line of sight come more intense ultra violet rays, which are the ones that give you that golden brown tan, but which can also cause you to burn.
And no post on St Lucia weather is complete without mentioning hurricanes. June to December is hurricane season in the Caribbean, however St Lucia is one of t
he luckier islands as being so low down in the island chain it is less affected by hurricanes compared to its more northerly neighbours. Also because the impact of a hurricane are generally over a day or two your chances of encountering one are actually very slim.
So when you think of a St Lucia vacation and St Lucia weather think of lazy beach days spent in the shade of an island palm tree, and if per chance it should rain just have another drink or two, by which time there’s bound to be sunshine in your spirits … no pun intended!
